How to Reach Szeged

By Plane

The International Airport of Budapest is located 160 kms from Szeged. From Budapest Airport you may continue your trip to Szeged by train (please see it below).

By Train

InterCity trains from Budapest "Nyugati pályaudvar" (Western Railway Station) to Szeged run frequently. The travel time is approximately 2.5 hours. You are recommended to check the latest schedules on the official Hungarian Railways website. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines, via the MÁV app, on this website, or at ticket offices at Nyugati Railway Station.

From the Airport:

There is a train station close to the airport. After arrival, you need to take the bus 200E to the train station. You have to get off at the bus stop "Ferihegy vasútállomás". The ticket can be purchased from the ticket vending machines at the bus stop of the airport or on the bus as well. The bus leaves from somewhere in the middle, between Terminals 2A and 2B. After getting off the bus, you have to cross the road through the pedestrian bridge. There are two railway tracks, you have to go to the one which is further from the road.

By Bus

Direct bus lines are available from/to many cities in Hungary and neighboring countries. You can check the bus schedules on website menetrendek.hu.

By GreenShuttle

A more expensive, but really comfortable direct shuttle is available by the company Greenshuttle. Their cars take you from Budapest airport to your hotel door in Szeged. It is recommended to book the shuttle 48 hours before departure time, otherwise a 20% extra charge is applied. Check this page for more information.

By Car

You can reach Szeged on the M5 motorway from Budapest (toll required). Other main routes include the M43 from the east, route 47 from the north-east, and route 55 from the west.

Travel in Szeged

Public Transport (Trams, Trolleys, Buses)

Szeged has a comprehensive public transport network. As the conference locations are close to each other in the downtown area, you might only need public transport when arriving, leaving, or exploring the city. The main conference building is easily reachable by tram line #2 from the main railway station ("Nagyállomás").

Tickets can be purchased at kiosks, from ticket machines, or on board some vehicles. For convenience, consider using a mobile ticket app or purchasing daily or multi-day passes.

By Car

Szeged has a prepaid ticket parking system: inside the middle boulevard and in some other places you must have a prepaid ticket under your windscreen on weekdays (mostly between 8:00 and 18:00 but check the signs). You can pay at parking machines or via mobile apps/SMS.
