| The goal of this talk is to show the connections of spectral theory of operators and orthogonal polynomials on the real line. In the first part we will discuss the essentials of spectral theory and the unitary equivalence of normal operators with multiplication operators. We put these tools into use in the second chapter, where we apply the spectral theorem to Jacobi matrices associated with orthogonal polynomials. |
