Abstract. In this talk first I would like to discuss a series of polynomial equations with real coefficients. Here my aim is to classify the coefficients in terms of the number of roots that locate outside of the unit circle in the complex plane. The classification will be visualized in a two-coefficients plane or a three-coefficients space. After investigating polynomial equations, to analyze local stability of nonlinear difference equations, I relate the parameters of Ricker model (logistic difference equation), which describes population growth with delayed negative feedback, to coefficients of polynomial equations. By way of an example, I will show that a combination of two delays enhances stability of a population equilibrium, whereas single delayed feedback induces instability.
