Subject: Zooprophylaxis is the use of animals to protect human health. The diversion of disease carrying insect from humans to animals may reduce transmission of diseases, such as malaria. A system of differential equations model for P.vivax malaria transmission is introduced to study the effect of zooprophylaxis. With sensitivity analysis, we showed that increasing the relative animal population size works better in P. vivax malaria control than decreasing the mosquito population when the relative animal population size is larger than a threshold value.

We also simulated the change of malaria incidence in South Korea, where 350 millions of animals were culled due to the FMD epidemic last winter.
