Doctoral Excellence Scholarships for 2025/2026
The University of Szeged and the Doctoral School of Mathematics operate an extensive system of excellence scholarships for doctoral students. In the 2025/2026 academic year, the most outstanding students were awarded these grants. Clique to see the winners.
Ferenc Móricz Doctoral Foundation
The Móricz Doctoral Foundation started its activities in 2022 and aims to:
“To support the doctoral students of the University of Szeged, to deepen their knowledge in the fields of applied mathematics, numerical mathematics, mathematical analysis and their related fields, and thus to preserve the intellectual heritage of Prof. Dr. Ferenc Móricz.”
The Foundation will support doctoral students in the academic year 2025/2026:
- Dániel Péter Bezdány (3rd year, supervisor Dr. Mátyás Barczy)
- Bence Torma (4th year, supervisor Dr. Tamás Waldhauser)
- Benedek Váli (1st year, supervisor Dr. Zoltán Blázsik)
University Doctoral Excellence Scholarships (DKÖ)
The University of Szeged created the system of University Doctoral Excellence Scholarships in 2023. For the academic year 2025/2026, the Council of the Doctoral School in Mathematics awarded the following grants.
- Based on her professional excellence, Szeged University Foundation Talent Doctoral Scholarship (HUF 100,000 per month) is awarded to Bernadett Nemes. Bernadett is in the 2nd year of her PhD program, her supervisor is Dr. Gergő Gyenizse.
- Two SZTE Excellence Doctoral Scholarship+ (HUF 100,000 per month) go to
- Tamás Ágoston (3rd year, supervisor Dr. Miklós Dormán and Dr. Miklós Maróti)
- Abdelaziz Ayman Abdelaziz Esmail (1st year, supervisor Dr. Mónika Van Leeuwen-Polner)
- The SZTE Doctoral Scholarship+ (HUF 70,000 per month) goes to

University Research Scholarship Programme (EKÖP)
The Ministry of Culture and Innovation provides funding to the University of Szeged for the operation of the University Research Scholarship Programme. The aim of the programme is to promote the development of the teaching and research staff of higher education institutions and to involve the most talented students in talent management in higher education.
