Dissections of the equilateral triangle into congruent triangles

Abstract of the lecture:
There are infinitely many pairwise nonsimilar triangles $\mathcal T$ such that the equilateral triangle can be dissected into congruent copies of $\mathcal T$. We determine these triangles, and investigate the number of pieces in these dissections. The existence of a dissection with $N$ pieces is connected to the rank over $\mathbb Q$ of some elliptic curves depending on $N$. We show that there are infinitely many $N$'s such that the equilateral triangle cannot be dissected into $N$ congruent triangles.
