[Please forward to potentially interested candidates.] PhD-positions at Linz, Austria (http://www.algebra.uni-linz.ac.at/Projects/FWF/P24077/opening-phd-en.pdf) The Department of Algebra at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria, invites applications for two PhD-positions (30 hours/week, starting as early as February 1st, 2012) in the research project Algebraic approaches to the Description of Mal'cev Clones financed by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). The positions are for a one year period. Extensions to the entire project duration (until December 31, 2014) are possible. Applicants are expected to have interest and knowledge in the field of abstract algebra and universal algebra. Programming experience in some computer algebra system is also desired. Applicants should hold a Master's degree in Mathematics and be admissible to the Doctoral program in Technical or Natural Sciences at the Johannes Kepler University Linz. Since the project is financed by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), payment is according to the guidelines of the FWF. In support of the advancement of women, we especially encourage women to apply.
