SUMMARY:Richmond Opoku-Sarkodie (SZTE): Numerical bifurcation study of an SIRWS system with different partitions of immunity period
LOCATION:Zoom online seminar
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Abstract. Variants of the classical susceptible-infectious-recovered (SIR)
system have been used to study the transmission dynamics of infectious
diseases. One of such variants is the SIRWS system which studies the&
nbsp;transmission dynamics for diseases for which immunity is not lifelong.
In most studies involving the SIRWS system, the time spent in the&nbs
p;recovered (R) compartment is the same as the time spent in the
waning&
nbsp;(W) compartment. We propose an SIRWS system with different partit
ions of the immunity period and study the effect of this partitioning
on the dynamics of the system. We perform a numerical bifurcatio
n study of our system using a life expectancy of 80 years and wi
th different levels of immune system boosting.
