Geometry Department celebrates the 120th anniversary in 2017

The first 120 years passed in the life of the Department of Geometry.

At the end of 1872 the Hungarian Parliament passed a law on establishing the Hungarian Royal University of Kolozsvár. On 11 November 1872 the university effectively began its operation and in 1881 received the name Royal Hungarian Franz Joseph University.

Mathematics was taught from the moment of the foundation and in 1897 the department of Descriptive Geometry was established for Leopold Klug.

From that year, with suspensions, in different places, but today's department of Geometry essentially continuously functioned.

The Department of Geometry is proud of this dozen of decades.

Celebrating our anniversary we make available for download two books on geometry from the years 1937 and 1944 written by Béla Kerékjártó who was the head of our department in between 1925 and 1938.

From now on these works are avalilable on the page downloadable documents .
